A Popular Ghanaian atheist, Chris Vincent, asked why God failed to save any of the 157 people killed in an Ethiopian Airline crash. He was referring to a Boeing 737 MAX 8 plane that crashed on its way from Addis Ababa to Nairobi, Kenya. God, Vincent said, must have been drinking beer with Satan and forgot His people (His words, not mine.)
Vincent’s use of loaded language may be pleasing to the itching ears of anti-Christians, but it is far from a well thought out argument against God. Too, Vincent implies that death is proof that God was not present. How is a plane crash evidence of anything beyond living in an imperfect world? Vincent never explains this. He seems to presuppose death as the end of existence. But if, as the Bible teaches, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, death is a gain, not a loss.
You would be hard pressed to find a scripture that says Christians will never die. The Bible tells us every man has an appointment with death. The real question is, have you accepted the call of God while living in this imperfect world?
